  • «Scientific Bulletin of V.O.Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University. Historical Sciences» was founded in 2008.

    The founder of the Journal is V.O.Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University.

    The scientific bulletin is registered by the State Registration Service of Ukraine (the Certificate on state registration of printed media outlet: Series КВ № 20999-10799 Р)

    The Journal is included into the Register of Scientific Professional Editions of Ukraine (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 528 dated 12.05.2015)

    Publication frequency: 2 issues per year.

    The Editorial Board accepts articles in the Ukrainian, Russian, English, German, and Polish languages.

    The Journal is intended for scientists, lecturers in higher education institutions, doctoral candidates, postgraduate students, candidates for a master’s degree, students and everyone who is interested in pedagogical sciences at national and international levels.

    The Journal publishes the results of the most important directions of theoretical, scientific and practical researches on the general issues of pedagogical science.

    Focus and scope: History of Ukraine, World History, Historiography, Source Studies, Local History.

    The Journal publishes articles, case studies, surveys, reviews, critiques, scientific commentaries, etc. on the specialties:

    07.00.01 History of Ukraine;

    07.00.02 World History;

    07.00.06 Historiography, Source Studies and Special Historical Disciplines.

    The aim of the Journal is to promulgate and promote modern scientific researches and to disseminate scientific achievements.

  •    Editorial Policy of «Scientific Bulletin of V.O.Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University. Historical Sciences»

    «Scientific Bulletin of V.O.Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University. Historical Sciences» conducts a policy of open access based on the principles of free dissemination and sharing of scientific information. The Editorial Board of the Journal adheres to ethical standards, based on the valuable experience of reputable international journals and publishers. The authors are fully responsible for the accuracy and content of their articles.

    The editorial policy is based on the following principles:

    • objectivity and impartiality in process of the selection of articles;
    • availability of all structural components of an article;
    • reviewing of articles;
    • copyright protection;
    • maintainingthe publishing schedule.

    The Editorial Board of the Journal considers the practice of plagiarism, unacceptable and takes all possible measures to prevent it.

    The editorial board is working at including the Journal into the abstract and citation databases in order to enter the global scientific information space and increase the rating of the edition.

    Principles of professional ethics of the Editorial Board

    The Editorial Board of the Journal «Scientific Bulletin of V.O.Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University. Historical Sciences» is responsible for the publication of copyrighted papers, which requires the adherence to the fundamental principles:

    • accepting articles for publication, the Editorial Board is guided by the accuracy of data and scientific significance of the work presented;
    • the Editorial Board evaluates the intellectual content of the manuscripts, regardless of the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, origin, nationality, social status or political preferences of the authors;
    • unpublished data obtained from submitted manuscripts should not be used for personal purposes or transferred to third parties without a written consent of the author. Information or ideas obtained in the course of editing and related to the potential benefits should be kept confidential and not used for personal gain;
    • the editorial board does not accept for publication any information if there is sufficient evidence to identify it as plagiarism;
    • the Editorial Board does not leave the claims concerning the reviewed manuscripts or published materials unanswered, and in the event of a conflict situation, take all necessary measures to restore the violated rights.
  • Review Process

    The purpose of the review is to improve the quality of research papers published in the journal.

    Review procedure for «Scientific Bulletin of V.O.Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University. Pedagogical sciences» includes the following types:

    • open peer review by an official reviewer – an external specialist in the relevant scientific field (Doctor of Science). The review is submitted by the author;
    • one-sided blind peer review by a member of the editorial board – the reviewer is informed about the author, the author is not informed about the reviewer.

    The review is based on the following criteria:

    • relevance of the article to the scientific field and focus of the Bulletin, its scientific level;
    • correspondence of the content of the article to the title;
    • availability of the required structural components of the article;
    • novelty of the article content.

    The procedure lasts from the submission deadline date to the Editorial Board meeting (for 2 weeks, as a rule).

    Each article is checked for plagiarism through related software.

    In case the article needs improvement according to the review results, the author is given a week to revise and to resubmit the article. The revised version is resubmitted to the reviewer for consideration. Papers recommended by reviewers and approved by the editor-in-chief are accepted for publication.

    Principles of professional ethics in the work of reviewers

    The reviewer performs scientific evaluation of copyrighted materials, whereby their actions should be impartial in nature, carried out in compliance with the following principles:

    • an article received for review is regarded as a confidential document that cannot be passed to or discussed with the third parties who do not have editorial authority;
    • a reviewer is obliged to give an objective and reasoned evaluation of the research results. Personal criticism is unacceptable;
    • unpublished data obtained from submitted manuscripts should not be used by a reviewer for personal purposes;
    • reviewers who do not believe they are qualified enough to evaluate the manuscript, or who cannot be objective, should advise the editor-in-chief to exclude them from the process of reviewing the manuscript.

    The principles the authors of scientific publications should adhere

    The author (or a group of authors) is aware of their responsibility for the novelty and reliability of the results of scientific research, which implies compliance with the following principles:

    • authors of the article must provide reliable research findings. Falsified statements are unacceptable;
    • authors should guarantee that the results of the study presented in the article are completely original. Borrowed fragments or assertions must be clearly identified by the author and source. Excessive borrowings, as well as plagiarism in any form, including inappropriate citations, paraphrases, or infringement of a copyright of the research results are unethical and unacceptable;
    • the contribution of all those who have in one way or another influenced the course of the study should be acknowledged, in particular, the article should include references to the works used in the process of investigation;
    • authors should not submit to the journal a manuscript that has been submitted to another journal and is under review, as well as an article that has already been published in other sources (including an online publication);
    • all researchers who have made a significant contribution to the study should be indicated as co-authors of the paper. It is unacceptable to include people who did not contribute to the research;
    • in case an author identifies errors or inaccuracies in the article at the stage of its review or after the publication, they must inform the Editorial Board as soon as possible;
    • the Editorial Board is not responsible for the opinions, judgments, results and conclusions made by the authors of the articles and published in the Scientific Bulletin. They do not necessarily coincide with the opinion of the Editorial Board. The authors are responsible for the reliability of the information in the articles, the accuracy of the names, surnames and citations.
